It’s very important for pet owners to provide the best possible care to their pet. And health is the foremost thing which should be taken care of.
If you have a bird pet, you need to be more cautious about health as birds don’t exhibit signs of any sickness too easily. I still remember the day when my pigeon passed away. It was sick since 3-4 days but I couldn’t identify.

Still, there are few signs which can make you identify if something going wrong with the bird.
- If bird’s droppings are of yellow, brown or tarry black color, it may be the indicators of internal bleeding. Also watch out the consistency of their droppings. If they are too firm or too runny, it may be a sign of complication.
- Pay good attention to the top part of bird’s beak (cere). If you find any inflammation, redness, or any other unusual sign there, consult the vet as soon as possible.
- If you find cloudiness or any discharge in the bird’s eye, there are good chances that the bird is suffering from nervous or respiratory disorder.
- Any change in eating pattern should be monitored sincerely. If you feel the bird is losing weight or eating lesser than usual, consult the vet as early as possible. It may the sign of intestinal blockage which can be deadly for the bird.
- Breathing with open mouth signifies respiratory problems in birds. These are one of the most common problems in birds.
