Welcome and Thank You for visiting our website. Thank you to all the voters who voted in the August 5, 2008 primary.

My name is Amy Peterman, and I am a Republican candidate for State Representative in the 39^th District, which serves West Bloomfield, Commerce Township, and Wolverine Lake.

WHY am I running? I believe that we need quality leaders in Lansing who can and will enact real change – and unlike some politicians that run on the empty slogan of change without defining the direction, I will detail the direction clearly (see below & links). The theme of our campaign is … “for a strong, prosperous Michigan.” Unfortunately, we’ve turned in the wrong direction recently.

WHO I am and WHERE have I been? I am a lifelong resident of Oakland County, and first and foremost a Mom. My husband Michael and I have 4 children. I am proud to have served our community for the last 9 years on the Walled Lake School Board, most recently as President, until I stepped down to run for State Representative. For 18 years, I specialized as an attorney in adoption and child welfare issues. I currently work as legal counsel for the Senate Majority Policy office focusing on issues that address protecting public safety.

WHAT do I plan to do as a State Representative and WHERE do I see our state headed? While not complete, here are four basic principles (click for details) state government must abide by to begin to turn Michigan around.

Make it more difficult for politicians to raise
your taxes.
Invest in and reward education so our best
minds stay in Michigan.
Promote Michigan Jobs.
Protect Our Quality of Life.

My question for you … I am running for state representative because I can no longer stand by and watch our state crumble while politicians squabble among themselves and continue to give lip service to the critical challenges we face.
